On June 5, 2022, the finals of the 4th Graduate Thesis Competition for Plant Production Majors in Undergraduate Universities in Guangdong Province sponsored by the Teaching Steering Committee of Plant Production Majors in Undergraduate Universities in Guangdong Province were successfully held in Foshan Institute of Science and Technology. 74 students from 10 colleges and universities involving undergraduate majors in plant production, including South China Agricultural University, South China Normal University, Guangzhou University, and Guangdong Ocean University, participated in the competition. The competition was divided into three stages: school recommendation, online review and on-site defense. 3 prizes, 9 first prizes and 12 second prizes. Zhang Keyu from our school won the special prize, Liu Jiali and Wang Jie won the first prize, and Huang Hui won the second prize.

The title of Zhang Keyu's award-winning paper is Development of LAMP-CRISPR-Cas12a Rapid Detection System for Banana Fusarium Wilt Pathogen, and the instructor is Professor Xia Rui. The title of Liu Jiali's award-winning paper is Research on the Genetic Law of Pepper Peel Color, and the instructor is Associate Professor Chen Changming. Wang Jie's award-winning paper is titled The Response Mode of Tea Tree TCS1 Gene to Tea Wheel Spot Infection and Its Bioinformatics Analysis, and the instructor is Lecturer Zhang Yuqian. The title of Huang Hui's award-winning paper is Gene Cloning and Functional Identification Analysis of Eggplant SmWRKY40, and the instructor is Professor Cao Bihao.

Our school has achieved good results in the previous Graduate Thesis Competition for Plant Production Majors in Guangdong Undergraduate Universities. In 2020, Chen Jingwen won the special prize of the competition, and He Liqun won the second prize of the competition. The title of Chen Jingwen's award-winning paper is Gene Family Analysis of Lychee GRAS Protein and Its Expression Analysis During Fruit Development, and the instructor is Professor Xia Rui. He Liqun's award-winning thesis is titled Microbial Mechanisms of Biochar and Organic Fertilizer to Regulate Soil Fertility and Lettuce Growth, and the instructor is Professor Yao Qing. In 2021, Ouyang Siying and Chen Zhiyun won the first prize of the competition. Ouyang Siying's award-winning paper is titled The Effects of Different Fruit Period Management Modes on the Storage and Transportation Performance of Longan After Harvest, and the instructor is Professor Wu Zhenxian. The title of Chen Zhiyun's award-winning paper is Research on Inducing 2n Female Gametes to Create Longan Triploid Germplasm, and the supervisor is Assistant Researcher Fu Jiaxin.

Through the graduation thesis competition for plant production majors in undergraduate colleges in Guangdong Province, the work exchange of undergraduate talent training between brother colleges has been better enhanced, the innovation ability of undergraduates has been promoted, and it is necessary to further improve the work of undergraduate graduation thesis and improve our province. The quality of cultivation of undergraduates majoring in plant production is of great significance.
